Microsoft Office Installation

1. Download

Visit the official Microsoft website and sign in with your Microsoft account.
On the Office portal, select the ‘Install software’ option.

2. Install

Run the downloaded installation file and follow the instructions.
Select the Office applications you want and the installation location.

3. Activate

Launch an Office application (e.g. Word) and enter your licence key. Follow the further instructions to activate your Office licence.

Common problems with Office installation

  • Activation error: Make sure you are entering the correct licence key and that you are connected to the internet.
  • Installation fails: Temporarily disable your antivirus software and try again.
  • Older versions: Uninstall any older versions of Office before installing a new version.

Windows Installation and Activation

Installing Windows

  • Download the ISO file: Download the Windows ISO from the official Microsoft website. Alternatively, you can use the Windows Media Creation Tool to create a bootable USB stick.
  • Create bootable media: Create a bootable USB stick or DVD using the ISO file. Programmes such as Rufus or the Windows Media Creation Tool can be used for this.
  • Start the installation: Boot your computer from the bootable media you have created. You may need to change the boot order in your computer’s BIOS/UEFI settings.
  • Complete the setup: Follow the instructions in the Windows Setup wizard. Select the language, Windows edition and installation location.

Activate Windows

  • Open Settings: Right-click the Windows icon and select ‘Settings’.
  • Update & Security: Select ‘Update & Security’ and then ‘Activation’.
  • Enter your product key: Click on ‘Change product key’ and enter your Windows product key. The product key was sent to you by email after you purchased Windows.
  • Confirm activation: Windows will now be activated online. This may take a few moments. Once activation is complete, the message “Windows is activated” will appear.

Antivirus Software Installation

Installation

  • Downloading the software: Download the installation file from the manufacturer’s official website.
  • Uninstalling existing antivirus programmes: Uninstall any existing antivirus software to avoid conflicts.
  • Start installation: Run the downloaded installation file as an administrator.
  • Configure settings: Select the desired installation options and components.
  • Complete the installation: Follow the remaining instructions and complete the installation.

Activation

  • Launch the programme: Open the installed antivirus software.
  • Access the licence section: Navigate to the licence or subscription section within the software.
  • Enter licence key: Enter the activation key you have received or use the ‘Activate licence’ option.
  • Confirm activation: Confirm your entry and wait until the activation is complete.
  • Check the status: Make sure the software is shown as ‘activated’ or ‘licensed’.

After installation, launch the programme and click on “Enter licence” in the “Licence” menu.

Server Software Installation

Windows Server Installation

  • Prepare the ISO file: Download the Windows Server ISO file and create a bootable medium.
  • Start the server: Boot the server from the bootable media.
  • Carry out the installation: Follow the Windows Server Installation Wizard.
  • Server configuration: Configure server roles and features after installation.

Windows Server Activation

  • Open Server Manager: Launch Server Manager after installation.
  • Open Server Properties: Click on ‘Local Server’ and then on the link next to ‘product key’.
  • Enter the licence key: Enter your Windows Server licence key.
  • Confirm activation: Click ‘Activate’ and wait for the process to complete.

SQL Server Installation

  • Start the setup: Run the SQL Server installation file.
  • Select installation type: Select “New standalone SQL Server installation”.
  • Enter product key: Enter your SQL Server licence key.
  • Select components: Select the components you wish to install.
  • Complete the installation: Follow the remaining instructions and complete the installation.
